AIR – new single release

The single AIR from the upcoming album “Jazz Ballads”, released on the artist label ToneWork Records, was recorded in Cologne and Berlin. Film music composer and multi-instrumentalist Gerhard Daum leads on the trumpet as well as plays the accompanying piano and midi bass on the recording. The well-known New York jazz drummer Adam Nussbaum collaborates on the project.
The acoustic and relaxing sound of AIR incorporates elements of jazz, classical and cinematic styles. Gerhard’s warm chilled trumpet sound invites the listener into the atmosphere of film noir, into the surroundings of Miles Davis and Chet Baker, and at the same time creates a fresh and novel approach to the performance.

I’m quite happy how things are coming along with my new album – the release is scheduled for the beginning of 2022.

The music and sound of the upcoming album is a rebirth of my love for the trumpet and the beauty of an acoustic ensemble playing contemporary classic jazz compositions.

After a lot of hard work, the recordings are all wrapped now and we are in the final stage for completing the master at EBS Productions in the Hansa Studio Complex, Berlin. Recordings for my new album took place at different studio locations. I performed and recorded the trumpet, the guitars and the piano in my own GDM Studio. The drum tracks, played by Adam Nussbaum, were recorded at Topaz Audio Studios in Köln.

Many thanks to everybody who worked with me on my new album and especially to Adam Nussbaum, who did a wonderful job and is a great guy to have on board.

Stay tuned for upcoming news!!!

Yours musically,

Gerhard

The new audio format Atoms is now featured on Apple and Tidal, other streaming platforms will soon follow this new trend.

In the early 90s film music composer and multi instrumentalist Gerhard Daum (Trumpet, Guitars, Piano) released his album “Voiceland” in the Dolby Surround format.
20 years later the music industry is catching up with Dolby Atmos, bringing this higher resolution audio format to the mainstream. Dolby Atmos enables the positioning of instruments in a full 360- degree audio experience.

“The new Atmos audio format is working for all genres – I really appreciate the additional space and transparent sound experience combined with the higher resolution of the audio file.” (Gerhard Daum)
